Gombol (Paye pich)

Decorations in nomadic life are part of their life. Nomads, like other groups of people, have their own rituals and ceremonies in mourning and weddings, in happiness and sadness. To decorate the wedding ceremony and happiness, colored braids are used called “Payeh Pich” or “Gambol”. For this purpose, they prepare a knitted band and make and hang cotton balls from colored woolen or acrylic(Kamva) threads at intervals of every 20 cm, like the colored threads of a wedding ceremony.

Gombol is prepared in different sizes and for different purposes. Coarse and woolen Gombols are used for the black rope of the tent and small button gambols are used to decorate khurjin and the like. Even for the band on the gazebos, colored Gombols are used. Among the other uses of Gombol, it is used to decorate the horse cover (they caled Jol), Kilim and jajim decorations, which are used in the design of decoration, which is stretched over the blankets and household items of the house. Also it used as a colorful curtain in the entrance of the rooms or kitchen.

The length of Gombols is 15 cm on average and their head line is 5 to 8 cm, and they are sewn together with thread and needle to make the bands strong and loose. The hanging place for Gombols can be a 2 to 5 cm diameter strap or a 10 to 7 cm wide strip which Gombols were hanged from it.
