About Acrylic Kilim

Among the characteristics of the Qashqai tribe is their enthusiasm for happy colors like red, yellow and so on. The Qashqai people use handwovens which made from acrylic (named Kamva in persian) in their celebrations and wedding ceremonies to decorate the space and also to express their happiness.

Also, you will definitely find this artificial fiber handwovens in their homes! In the old days, because of to the lifestyle of the nomads, these Kilims and Jajims were woven as long as the tent,They put most of their living supplies,  bedding, clothes and other items in jowals and khorjins and Mafrashs and stack them neatly along the length of the tent then draw a large and beautiful Jajim or Kilim all over them. But these days due to change of Qashqaeis life style and their urbanization these carpets usually woven in shorter lengths (often in 3 meters length) and the longer Kilims&Jajims are not practical.  Another use of artificial fiber Kilims and Jajims is to cover beds, quilts, and mattresses.

According to their customs, the Qashqais stack their sleeping mats and blankets next to the wall of their tent or room, and then use these type of carpets to cover them. The other usage of them is to covering the wardrobe. It is customary in the Qashqai tribe to consider these types of carpets for their daughters’ dowries for the beauty of their houses.
