Qashqaei Jajim

Jajim is a kind of reversible handwoven. Jajim is a kind of hand-woven similar to Pelas, which is thinner than it, and it is woven from colored and delicate woolen threads. Both sides of Jajim can be used. Qashqai Jajims is woven in two equal pieces and then they are sewn together. Jajim weaving, as one of the common handicrafts in Iran, has been popular among rural families and nomads for a long time.

The nomads benefit a lot from Jajim and it is used as a blanket and protection against the cold. Jajim was the most suitable thing that was put on the chair in the old days. Jajim texture is customary in the vast majority of villages and rural areas of Iran, the only difference between Jajim is the combination of color and elegance of thread and the patterns they create on it. Jajim is used as a mattress, and it is also used for packing and moving furniture and accessories during the migration of nomads. Even among some rural families, Jajim is given as a gift and dowry and it remains as a precious souvenir for many years in households. The raw material of jajim is wool.
