About Horse cover (Jol Asb)
One of the most beautiful nomadic weavings of Iran is called “Jol” (horse cover). Jol is a hand-woven that is made to decorate horses and camels. Jol has both the role of keeping the horse warm and absorbing sweat, as well as a decorative and ceremonial aspect for it. The main body of the Jol is a rectangle with two handles that cover the horse’s back. In general, in most regions of Iran, horse and camel saddles are produced with various shapes and decorations and are prepared in the form of rugs, Kilims, Jajims, and needlework(Rend).
Qashqai people use their art of Rend weaving to weave exquisite and delicate Jols in different designs and colors and use them when showing horses in various ceremonies.
